IK4-TEKNIKER and TRIMEK are to jointly boost new metrology skills

IK4-TEKNIKER aims to further knowledge in the area of measurement and inspection

IK4-TEKNIKER has reached an agreement with TRIMEK to create a collaborative environment to allow their expertise in the field of metrology to converge.

IK4-TEKNIKER and the company dedicated to the design and manufacture of TRIMEK coordinate measuring machines have signed an agreement whose purpose is to foster the creation of a collaborative environment where the interests of both organisations will able to coalesce in the field of metrology.

The agreement has materialised subsequent to refurbishing and adapting a space at the metrology laboratory of the Basque centre that is to become the Centre of Precision jointly managed by Innovalia Metrology and IK4-TEKNIKER. This will allow the Basque centre to strengthen its ties with the Innovalia metrology unit formed by Trimek, Datapixel and Unimetrik, specialised in providing solutions for industrial metrology in order to improve production process efficiency.

The agreement was signed by the Managing Directors of IK4-TEKNIKER and TRIMEK, Alejandro Bengoa and Jesús De la Maza, respectively, in the course of an event that took place at the IK4-TEKNIKER facilities.

Both organisations share the common goal of furthering accessibility to on-line metrology skills and contact-less measuring technologies in the Basque industrial sector. With the signing of this agreement, the Basque technology centre and the Alava-based company seek to procure updated equipment that will enable them to improve their technological supply, upgrade the training of their workforce and share projects that are relevant to both parties.

To this end, the agreement covers the joint drafting of an annual activity programme that will support the development of training services for companies and professionals at the technology centre, scientific-technical dissemination and promotion as well as the implementation of R&D projects related to hybrid and contactless 3D metrology.

The fact that IK4-TEKNIKER is to provide the facilities required for the precision centre mean that a portable M3 system equipped with a 3D contactless OptiScan laser sensor will be installed by TRIMEK and that an M3 software licence will be issued.

The managers of both organisations believe that this collaboration will attract other stakeholders and make it easier for external players to access training and projects connected to learning in the field of basic and advanced metrology, seminars on 3D scanning using CMM, AUKOM courses or the possibility of acquiring rapid verification for 3D machines and TETRACHECK tools.

This five-year agreement can be extended for identical periods of time. At the end of each financial year, officials from both organisations will carry out a joint assessment of the work done and revamp the yearly activity programme to address the next term.

With this agreement, IK4-TEKNIKER seeks to further its knowledge in terms measurement and inspection (a field of specialisation) and to offer solutions based on precision engineering by incorporating an extensive range of  commercial devices and measuring procedures.
