IK4-TEKNIKER’s new facilities include all the necessary equipment, space and conditions to boost the technological offer that the centre has been offering its clients. Clients currently representing established sectors like the machine tool, automotive or energy sectors, as well as emerging sectors, including the bio or robotics sector.
Nevertheless, thanks to its new facilities, IK4-TEKNIKER has set itself the challenge to take a major step forward in the scaling-up of processes on an industrial level, so that companies will find it easier to adopt the technological innovations; in other words, the aim is to get as far as the pre-mass production phases that will enable the technological innovation to be incorporated into the industrial processes more effectively.
The facilities unveiled recently have new equipment that will enable IK4-TEKNIKER researchers to increase the value of the solutions they design for established sectors and new markets.
For example, as far as the bunker is concerned, IK4-TEKNIKER is going to be able to test not only high-speed heads destined for machine tools, but also structural aeronautics components.
As regards the metrology laboratory, the facilities can respond, among other things, to the market trends heading towards the manufacture of large-sized components. In components of this kind the need to measure in situ is combined with greater measuring precision and speed, which are necessary to guarantee the quality of large-sized, costly components. At the end of the day, it is about making the process more reliable.
The chemical laboratories, provided with the latest equipment which few European organisations have, bring together the accumulated expertise in the analysis of lubricants, water, metals, etc. and enable diagnoses to be offered on the monitoring of industrial fluids in use or the diagnosis of the reasons why critical equipment ceases to function in production processes.
And as a final example, the biomedical sector is another market that IK4-TEKNIKER has committed itself to through the new facilities. The clean room, an essential piece of equipment in the production of devices with great precision, is a key tool for developing the micro-technological solutions that this sector is calling for.
