Seminar “New standards to evaluate the uncertainty of geometric measurements on coordinate measuring machines”

It is essential to know how to evaluate uncertainty whenever coordinate measuring machines are used to ensure reliable measuring outcomes that provide the best quality indicator.

To achieve this, however, expert knowledge is required and standards such as those belonging to the ISO 15530 series offer some indications in this regard but do not meet these needs in full and sometimes not enough attention is paid to this issue although it is highly significant.

It is in this context that Tekniker is going to host a seminar within the framework of a European project called EUCOM (Evaluating the Uncertainty in Coordinate Measurement) to showcase the results of this project in line with the industry’s needs to acquire the necessary knowledge to evaluate uncertainty whenever coordinate measuring machines are used.

The outcome of this project has given rise to new methods that evaluate measuring uncertainty. The first method allows experimental calculations to be run by means of a number of additional measurements, whilst the second only uses the information obtained before measuring.

Both of these methods will be presented during the seminar and their implementation will be explained too. There will also be room for questions and suggestions.
