Technology transfer, a key element to guarantee results

IK4-TEKNIKER must maintain a non-conformist attitude to sustain its growth figures

Luis Uriarte, Market Manager and Subdirector of IK4-TEKNIKER, believes that the market of technological assets has to be exploited to increase their impact on company activities.

All the progress made during this period has delivered outstanding economic figures for IK4-TEKNIKER. In only three years, the technology centre has experienced growth in its R&D activity figures and has managed, on the one hand, to operate more in line with company needs and, on the other, has become more involved in customer activities.

It will only be possible to maintain this progress over time if the technology centre adopts a critical and non-conformist attitude that serves to motivate all staff members to work towards a continuous improvement process.

The end result of this conviction is the proposal made for the new Strategic Plan which, as far as Market Management is concerned, contains several specific master lines.

On the one hand, the centre must be capable of reaching out to the market more frequently and efficiently. This explains why the technology transfer structure is being reinforced by hiring professionals with high levels of R&D experience.

This approach has to be combined with Digital Business as a lever to reach out to our existing and potential customers in a different manner.

On the other hand, it is essential to fully exploit the technology centre's assets, i.e., its own knowledge, in the form of mature solutions capable of transferring technology immediately into the market. Intellectual property rights connected to these assets, moreover, must be managed more efficiently.

The centre should also have a greater impact on companies by improving business relationships, reinforcing management practices by customers, through Key Account Managers (KAM) and proper management of sectorial offers.

Finally, the centre must develop a strategy focused on micro SMEs based on specific policies and also support regional economic development agencies.

IK4-TEKNIKER, therefore, has put its stakes on sustainable growth, an approach that is fully in line with reaching out to the market more often and efficiently. A goal which, thanks to a number of unique projects, will reinforce the opportunities offered by the current communication paradigm and that will implement new marketing strategies through digital platforms and channels.
