IK4-TEKNIKER is organising a new edition of the 4M 2013 Conference

IK4-TEKNIKER, which belongs to the 4M association, is organising the tenth edition of the 4M 2013 Conference, scheduled to take place on 8 and 10 October in Donostia-San Sebastian and Eibar (Gipuzkoa, Basque Country).

This conference focussing on micro-manufacturing is seeking to provide a vision oriented towards research into advance micro-manufacturing technologies to be applied in the biomedical, energy and aeronautical sectors, for example..

To achieve this aim, the conference has a broad programme that will be addressing over the two days subjects like macro-micro-nano integration and its repercussions on product/process design. For this purpose it will be featuring papers given by top researchers like Professor Saotome of the University of Tohoku (Japan), who will be speaking about the applications of metallic glass, and Professor Cao of Northwestern University, scheduled to speak about surface texturing.

Furthermore, IK4-TEKNIKER’s Ultraprecision Processes unit will be presenting a paper on the latest research conducted in the field of polymer micro-injection.

The 4M 2013 Conference is one of the main events of a European nature on micromanufacturing in metal materials and polymers. In fact, it drew over 120 participants in Austria in 2012 and a similar number including scientists, engineers and researchers from all over the world are expected to attend this year's event.

The 4M association

The 4M association was set up as a Network of Excellence within the European 6th Framework Programme and is made up of members from companies, R&D centres and universities like: KIT (G), University of Birmingham (UK), DTU (D), KUL (B), KTH (S), CEA (F), CSEM (CH), and TNO (NL), which develop their activity and do research into micro-technologies for the manufacture of micro-components and devices in a range of materials for various applications.
