Lubmat 2012 Conference

6-8 June 2012 | Euskalduna Conference Centre (Bilbao)

IK4-TEKNIKER is organising, in collaboration with the Jost Institute for Tribotechnology of the United Kingdom, the third edition of the LUBMAT 2012 conference.

This edition with be dealing with the subjects of Lubrication Management, Tribology, Lubricants and Additives, Special Fluids, Efficient Management and Operation, and Reliability and Sustainability, and will be devoting special interest to the following papers:

  • Maintenance problems in off-shore wind turbine energy generation facilities. - Gamesa.
  • Friction in microelectromechanical systems (MEMs). Michael T. Dugger (STLE).
  • Ionic liquids. Ichiro Minami (Universidad de Iwate).
  • Advanced lubricants in highly efficient energy applications. Flavia Gili (Centre Recherche Fiat).
  • Extending performance limits of hydrodynamic bearings. Sergei Glavatskikh (KTH Royal Institute of Technology – Sweeden).
  • Dealing with 1200 centrifugal pumps at Petronor oil refinery. Marc Vila (Responsible of rotating machinery reliability dept. in Petronor).
  • Racing oils or how a tailor made lubricant is formulated. Javier de Diego (coordinador de lubricantes de Repsol).
  • Predictive maintenance and lubrication management in Iberdrola power generation stations: current situation and médium term prospects. Isaac Rodes y Begoña Remartínez (Iberdrola).
  • An overview of tribological problems in railways. Xabier Pérez (Senior Technology Advisor, Technology Division, CAF).
  • Friction and energy consumption in passenger cars. Kenneth Holmberg (VTT).
  • Tribological performance of bonded solid lubricants. Ian Sherrington (Jost Institute for Tribotechnology).

In addition, IK4-TEKNIKER’S Tribology Unit will be presenting the following article: "Tribological investigations of ionic liquids in ultra high vacuum environment" together with Vladimir Totolin and Nicole Dörr of AC²T Research GmbH, Austria, and Ichiro Minami of Iwate University, Japan.

To complete this with a practical approach, on 5 June a number of courses will be run by some of the prestigious collaborators at the conference on matters of interest to do with production.

LUBMAT was the result of a joint initiative between IK4-TEKNIKER and the Jost Institute for Tribotechnology to tackle lubrication and wear from a more industrial and less scientific approach, unlike other conferences; an additional feature is its endeavour to reach and be of interest to as large a number of companies as possible.
