Cutting-edge technology in dental brackets

IK4-TEKNIKER and DM CEOSA have released plastic self-ligating dental brackets onto the market

IK4-TEKNIKER’s technology is right at the core of the arrival onto the market of plastic self-ligating dental brackets, in a sector which until now has only offered metal self-ligating ones. The Basque R+D centre has designed and manufactured micromoulds for the injection manufacture of dental bracket components for the firm DM CEOSA.

From the technological perspective, the most important innovation lies in the precision in the micromould manufacture. The Basque R+D centre IK4-TEKNIKER has provided the inserts meeting the required dimensions and specific to micro injection, a technique in which the centre is a benchmark.

The CAMALEON range of brackets is the second that IK4-TEKNIKER has developed for DM CEOSA. The first was the range called HONEY and was a market success in cosmetic treatments. The plastic material used, which is barely visible owing to its transparency, opens up the door for uses in other segments and for the development of new products.

This project confirms the capacity of the Basque centre to offer clients a comprehensive solution in the world of microinjection. IK4-TEKNIKER’s technology makes the precise control of the pressure, temperature and volume of material used during the process possible. This is a key feature of this technology, which allows the microinjection to be carried out at a great filling speed. That way the desired temperature can be maintained and optimum results achieved.

This innovation was very successfully presented at the 12th edition of EXPODENTAL, the International Exhibition of Dental Equipment, Products and Services held in Madrid. This specialised rendezvous, regarded as one of the main European meetings in the dental sector, was held from 23 to 25 February, 2012 and showed where this industry is heading through the new products of the 300 national and international companies participating.
