ULMA Handling Systems implements Knowit

Knowit, a key factor for the ULMA Handling Systems strategy

The aim of this solution is to continuously obtain and systematically analyse any information that is relevant to the organisation so it can be used for operational and strategic decision-making.

In order to improve decision-making at an operational and strategic level, the Basque cooperative ULMA Handling Systems, under the logistics division of Grupo ULMA, intends to manage any information connected to market advances and technological developments linked to their sector systematically and efficiently.

Although the Oñati-based company already boasts a solid track record in the field of Competitive Intelligence, it has not yet implemented technological management information systems fully adapted to meet its needs.

For this reason, the cooperative established a partnership with the IK4-TEKNIKER technology centre to implement Knowit, the collaborative intelligence platform developed in full by the research centre.

The main goal was to develop a solution for active listening that is capable of obtaining information continuously and of performing a systematic analysis of all the data compiled to be used in the operational and strategic decision-making process.

This collaborative project involving both organisations began with a first stage in which goals, human resources and roles were defined.

Information requirements were diagnosed in stage two and an initial listing of relevant information sources was obtained to be subsequently revised and validated to adapt the quality and quantity of information reaching the platform.

It was in the last stage when the project was commissioned.

This project, in addition to implementing and commissioning Knowit, also includes a training course for ULMA Handling Systems staff involved in the process.
